It’s getting close to “election time” and it’s fairly clear that things are changing… some things haven’t changed. For now, I’m still using the same Tablet PC. I went to Fry’s for an exchange, they had nothing better… sad, really. I’d wanted the hp tx-series; they had the touch-screen version, nothing Penabled, nothing I’d really benefit from. Looks like sooner or later, I’ll get the hp 2710p (convertible) or a slate Tablet PC. I’m not so sure if I should go Vista or XP Tablet Edition… (Thoughts? Please LMK, thanks!) I like being able to directly input, I like the idea of dual-touch (finger and Penabled). Tablets are helpful; I’d like to illustrate, ink and design more.

Netbooks (such as the ASUS Eee PC series) and Amazon’s Kindle (reader) rock, IMHO—I assume both will beautifully handle some of my “tablet-esque” tasks… 2009 should be a fantastic year. I’m doing things differently; change is good, necessary sometimes. The Internet is fairly awesome; I’m enhancing my ways to get more from the ‘Net—everyday, adding freebies and tools to my tumblr, and adding widgets, profiles, links, service tips (Backpack and Highrise)… just Google “bradtastic” and see what I mean. Some people consider it overkill—fotunately, many see the positives and benefits, wanting similar results… offering e a more-than-worthwhile commission for my assistance. The days of buying expensive software [Microsoft Outlook, Word (Office)] can (should?) be over for small business, individuals, most certainly students… even (especially) high school and college won’t need MS! Especially with the new Apple offerings, new MacBook and MacBook Pro, new LED screens, networking and MobileMe—Axiotron even has a Mac Tablet based on the MacBook! (called ModBook) But it’s not the hardware…

… the ‘Net has phenomenal stuff. Thunderbird or Mail replace Outlook and Live Mail… there’s always GMail and the like. 37signals’ BackpackIT and HighriseHQ take care of contacts, tasks, calendar and reminders—there are also free wikis and tools. ZOHO and Google’s applications make buying Microsoft Office so silly! Much of this stuff is actually fun! Socializing and Networking has never been easier, faster or more convenient. Life can be simplified and although there are lots of “nice” new computers, old hardware can still work because of browser=based applications.

(I’d really like mobile broadband in a notebook!)

For now, I’m still writing and designing, consulting and working on The Art of Impression as well as a fun (new) enticing fiction… partially-based on my life. If you’re at all interested in things to come, follow my tumblr (bradtastic.tumblr.com) and check out bradtastic.com because life changes. Sometimes it’s hard—maybe I can help you (or someone you know?). Learn about and get updates on my great, fairly-crazy, usually very-very painful life… things are getting greater. The weather is changing and the cold is much better for me! Time to re-watch My Own Worst Enemy and Heroes before HOUSE!

Lastly, Happy Halloween!
