Mobile it up!
First, a shout-out to Warner Crocker & Gottabemobile! for keeping me up-to-date on the stuff I care about.
FOR THOSE WHOM DON’T KNOW, (or simply so I can COMPLAIN AGAIN) this year of 2008 has been a year of MASSIVE HDD/PC issues! It’s been talked about at Twitter and my other blogs; I’ve lost a lot of time this year, I have more to-do (than ever before) and I’ve been looking at any-and-all software/hardware “options” (solutions) to help me GTD and catch up!
Twitter/Tumblr/Jaiku/Pownce while to some (including myself sometimes) may be a “distraction,” has been a HUGE HELP! The communities are great and the services act as a (visual/audio/image) timeline helping me to move stuff to (online) web 2.0 applications and stay “atop” the “news.”
The amazing Backpack by 37signals has been one of the biggest—singly “the most important tool I now use” and a truly great web-application. (You—yes, “you” can try it free) There are other free “alternatives” (quotes because…) but they’re not nearly as good and Backpack is solidly worth paying for. 37signals ADDS features and benefits quite-frequently to all of it’s apps, and I’m in-the-process-of movin’ my Google Group and community over to it. Business (today) is LSF—lighter, smarter, faster. Staying “ahead of the competition” means being: more flexible, EV-DO, more portable, ONLINE (some businesses still don’t have a website!) and more LEAN.
Staying LEAN allows a business to deploy faster, “test” easier and if necessary, change entirely (and completely) to BEAT THE OPPOSITION. This is David vs Goliath, the stealth-aircraft vs battle-tank, and the SDB precision-strikes vs nuclear-ballistic multi-warhead missiles! Speed and efficacy are key, vital to small business.
GBM helps me compare and select the stuff I and other businesses (that I consult with/for) need, on-top of that, they (GBM) find and link the best deals and lowest prices, making it my go-to mobile-resource…
…and with “mobile” being so important, being my “mobile resource” is more like: (my) SECRET-NINJA-BUSINESS-LIFE-HACKS-N-STUFF! (aka) “I win!” “I win!” “I win!” (Just-so-long as my MacBook Air doesn’t crash and die!)
